PayPal and BillPoint
Two new ways to pay for your auction merchandise have recently surfaced on eBay. The first to arrive was Paypal. This free service allows sellers to receive payment from credit cards, and it gives buyers a convenient way to pay for their merchandise. PayPal acts as the middleman. The buyer pays Paypal and the seller then withdraws the money from his PayPal account. To learn more about Paypal, visit their site at PayPal.Com and click on the Auction Payments tab. Recently, eBay instituted its own payment method called Billpoint. With this service, buyers can pay for their merchandise using their credit card, and buyers receive payments from Billpoint. There is a fee to the buyer, starting at 35 cents for purchased under $10. For larger purchases, the fee if 35 cents plus 3.5% of the selling price. Sellers with less that $1,000 a month volume pay 39 cents plus 3.9%. For more specific information about Billpoint, click here.
